Our History
The foundations of this school were laid in 1989 when Dr. Abdulai Tinorgah and Mrs Evelyn Leila Tinorgah founded the Kiddies Creche. It was the first privately owned day-care facility set up in the Northern, Upper East, Upper West and the Brong-Ahafo Regions of Ghana. With encouragement and active support from our families, parents of our learners, the Department of Social Welfare, the Ghana Education Service among others, the school has grown to include Preschool, Primary and JHS departments.
With humble beginnings and starting with twenty (20) children, the crèche was located at the bungalow of the founders at NORRIP Village in Tamale. It was subsequently moved into rented premises and the name changed to Abe Halperin Crèche and School. Eventually, it was relocated to its permanent premises at Rice City in Gumani. Along the line, the school has gone from Kiddies Creche to Abe Halperin School Complex and finally to Abe Halperin School.
22 batches of candidates (a total of nine hundred and fifty students) have written the BECE from the year 2002 to 2024. We have had 100% passes every single year. Our products have moved on to senior high schools located all over the country. In batches, they have continued to institutions of higher learning. Some have graduated and are working in various fields of endeavour.
The school was named Abe Halperin School in honour of the late Mr. Abe Halperin who was a foster father to Dr. Abdulai Tinorgah for the diverse roles he and his wife, Edith Halperin played in the establishment of the school.
