Non-Academic Policies
- Admission
- The age for admission in Creche is 6 months, however the school has created room to cater for children of working mothers. A learner must be four old or two months to four years in-order to be enrolled in KG.
- Fees vary from year to year. Fees cover cost materials and termly fee. Fees are non-negotiable.
- Previous records (history) of new entrants are required to complete the admission process. These include:
- Birth certificate of learners
- Parent(s) Identity card (GH Card)
- Copy of utility bill
- Previous academic records (cumulative record) from Basic 2
- Passport size picture
- Weighing card (less than 10 years)
- Entrance exam is a competitive exam. Learners with good passes are admitted until the vacancies are filled. The pass mark is pegged at 6o% in each subject.
- Attendance to school
- A learner who misses school for 10 consecutive days without any tangible reason or permission from the school will lose his/her place in the class.
- Late coming is not accepted in the school. All learners are all expected in class by 7:30am
- Truancy – does not exist in the school.
- Behaviour
- Class behaviour log books are available in all our classes to records of learners’ behaviour. These could be positive or negative.
- Disciplinary committee has been set – up to handle issues of misbehavior and misconduct of both learners and staff. The decisions of the committee is final and binds on all, unless it is reviewed by the Managing Director or the BoD.
- Rules and regulations are given to parents at the point of admission. It contains guidelines and classification of misconducts and the consequences.
- Core values – At Abe Halperin school we cherish our values and do everything possible to inculcate these values in our learners so that when they leave the school, they will not depart from them.
- Communication

- Digital platforms – The school make good use of the digital space. We have general parents’ platforms for effective and timely communication. We have active class platforms and telegram channel for improved communication.
- Complaint desk – offices of school managers are open daily for complaints, recommendations and suggestions. Hot-lines are activated for the same purpose.
- Suggestion box – Two metal boxes are fixed at the school entrance for suggestions and observations.
- Health
- 1st aid procedure – the school do not have a nurse but we have trained personnel administering first aid to learners and staff.
- Medical records on medical conditions and allergies of learners are kept for reference and monitoring.
- Emergency evacuation/pick up plan have been put in place to offer a safe and comfortable evacuation of learners and staff in times of unexpected events such as fire, flood etc. The school also has a spacious compound to easy emergency evacuation.
- Waste sorting and management is an area the school is exploring.
- Dust – sweeping by learners is suspended during the harmattan season. This helps in reducing the level of dust on the compound. Our learners are trained to take turns so that they do not rush when leaving and coming into the classroom.
- Finance
- Fees payment plan – scroll up for write up.
- Refund – learners who attend school for two weeks from reopening are compelled to settle the total bill. Payments made in advance of withdrawal are non-refundable.
- Discount: there is a 10% discount on the next bill for all parents who paid their wards fees before reopening. Parents with more than two wards enjoy a 10% discount on any additional wards brought to the school. This discount is known as quantity discount.

- Scholarship – Management grant limited number of scholarships to the landlords, parents struggling with their ward’s fee, the Tinorgah family and staff of the school.
- Endowment fund – All parents are expected to pay the annual endowment fund dues of GHC20.00 per annum regardless of the number of wards you have.
- Technology
- Use of device in school – not available yet. All devices brought to the school without permission are confiscated.
- Cyber security and crime
- Use of internet – only available to learners in the computer laboratory
- Security and safety
- Surveillance – Security men guard the school 24hrs a day. In addition, CCTV Camera are installed in the school to monitor the activities of staff, learners and visitor through out the day.
- Visitors to school – Visitors to the school have to report to the reception for further direction. No visitor is allowed into the premises without authorization. Learners are not allowed to entertain visitors in or around the school premises.
- Pick up of learners – emergency pick up of learners during school hours are approved by the school manager. No learner is allowed to leave the school, once the gates are closed.
- Lost and found

- Food and Canteen
- Meals and break – The school runs a canteen service, which is optional. Parents can provide meals and snacks to their wards when coming to school.
- Snacks – Snacks and fruits are sold in the school market.
- Celebration of event (birthday etc) – The school does not permit the celebration of birthdays and parties.
- Transport
- Means to school – Abe Halperin school does not provide bus services to learners and staff. Learners come to school with commercial vehicles and on motorbikes. Some learners ride bicycles to school.
- Safety policies – Parents and visitors are to secure the doors of their vehicles before stepping out. The school will not be held liable for any loss/ theft within the compound. All parents are to accompany the wards into the school the compound or ensure their wards get into the departmental compound before leaving.
- Car park procedure – observe marking for packing. Following directive of the security in parking and moving your vehicle. Do not leave your ward in the car park.
- Associations (PTA)
- Membership – optional but recommended.
- Communication – through termly meetings, PTA platforms and school visit.
- Responsibility – These areas are clearly stated in the constitution of the association.
